Getronics has today launched its Security Operations Centre (SOC) in Barcelona, offering both new and existing customers dedicated round-the-clock managed security services to protect against the rising number of cyber-attacks facing businesses. The SOC is designed to monitor, assess and react to potential security threats across the network, applications, web servers and connected devices, as well as better positioning Getronics’ customers to be GDPR compliant.
Through the SOC’s Protective Monitoring Service, businesses are provided with 24/7 real-time situational awareness from endpoints to perimeter. Monitoring and detection of attacks are further bolstered through additional monitoring services, including cyber-attack simulations, penetration testing, vulnerability assessment, and cyber security status reporting. The services of the SOC will be charged on a pay-as-you-use model, making it far more affordable for organisations to manage the costs of security.
Getronics is working closely with multiple organisations, including the CiSP community linked to the UK National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), as well as Webroot to receive up-to-date communications on the cyber threat landscape to better position against potential threats from across the world. Additionally, the SOC ensures security compliance, by delivering a flexible and agile service to customers requiring different regulatory or compliance needs, such as Payment Card Industry Security Standard (PCI DSS), Centre for Information Security (CIS), Hardening Standards, UK CESG Good Practice Guide 13 (GPG-13) and ISO27001 regulations.
Speaking about the launch of the SOC, Paul Key, Global Head of Security & Compliance at Getronics, said: “It seems a day doesn’t go past where we see yet another high-profile cyber-attack crippling businesses. The launch of the SOC is a giant leap towards addressing this by providing a holistic view in proactively monitoring and tackling these cyber security threats, before it even has a chance to reach organisations. By managing customer security needs, it frees the time for them to focus on the day-to-day running of business operations and enable a clear understanding of the role cyber security and GDPR plays within this ecosystem.”
According to the Mid-Market Reality Check, a study carried out earlier in 2017, 65 per cent of mid-sized organisations believe security is the key priority for the next one-two years, and 52 per cent identified cyber security as the greatest challenge for 2017 – especially with the impending GDPR legislation coming into force in May 2018.
Paul continued: “With the looming GDPR only a few months away, it’s critical that organisations quickly adapt to the new regulation, but this is often met with much difficulty in understanding the criteria required to be compliant. The SOC puts our customers in an ideal position to benefit from increased GDPR compliance, through a complete 24×7 end-to-end security service delivery in the form the rigorous monitoring and assessment of security threats “
“This is down to the fact that security is embedded into everything we deliver. With years of expertise in delivering ITIL based managed services and the ability to act across all areas of IT, our customers across the globe can be assured that they have a team dedicated in ensuring business continuity even in the face of disruption from cyber threats and the complexities of regulatory requirements such as GDPR and PCI DSS.”
