Corporate Social Responsibility

We have incorporated our social and environmental requirements into our Supplier Code of Conduct. This code is based on the values incorporated in the Charter of the United Nations and in the core treaties of the International Labour Organization (ILO).

By concentrating on high-risk suppliers in the first instance, we can exercise stricter supervision on compliance. We can also verify compliance on the basis of an external audit and encourage improvement. This means that we will devote greater attention to hardware suppliers from Asia than to suppliers of services in Western Europe. Indeed, in the case of this first category that processes raw materials to produce our products, we consider the risk of violation of social and environmental-related standards higher.

Sustainable Procurement Policy

Basic principles

We wish to only sell products and services that were produced from A to Z with respect for humankind and the environment. Customers can rely on this. Firstly, because Getronics is an A brand and secondly, because we are transparent. Getronics wants to be the best ICT service provider. In that case the customer must be able to implicitly rely on the fact that our products and services have been produced in an honest and ethical way.

Social

Our Supplier Code of Conduct – which is based on international standards – describes the procurement requirements in the area of sustainability.

  • All suppliers are expected to adhere to Getronics’ Purchase Conditions of which the Supplier Code of Conduct forms part. Suppliers that exceed our Code of Conduct are on KPN's preferred list.

Environment

  • The environmental aspects recorded in the Supplier Code of Conduct are worked out in detail for each supplier (if applicable) and incorporated into the contract.
  • Supplier performance in terms of the defined areas is measured over the contract period. Where necessary adjustments are made.

Economic

  • The financial position of suppliers is regularly audited.

Scope of policy

This policy applies to all Getronics’ suppliers in the Netherlands. The policy is approved by Getronics’ CFO and the CSR Steering Committee. The Code of Conduct forms an integral part of Getronics' Purchasing Conditions. The policy custodian is Hans de Milde, Director Central Procurement.

Focus on high-risk suppliers

  • Getronics obliges high-risk suppliers to sign the Supplier Code of Conduct. A supplier is defined as a high-risk supplier if production takes place in a ‘best cost country’, such as countries in Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe and South America.
  • An initial group of high-risk suppliers was identified in 2009. They were sent the Supplier Code of Conduct. The list of high-risk suppliers is updated every quarter by the Sustainable Procurement Steering Committee.

The purchaser maintains intensive contacts with the supplier about the steps to be taken.

Internal organisation

Responsibility for the implementation of the Supplier Code of Conduct and E-TASC is assigned to the Central Procurement Department. Central Procurement’s responsible procurement officers are informed and involved if necessary. Central Procurement’s category managers are responsible for the compliance of suppliers in their procurement category.

Decisions concerning the Supplier Code of Conduct and E-TASC are taken by Central Procurement’s management at Getronics. Escalation is possible via Steven van Schilfgaarde, CFO Getronics NL BV and Hans de Milde, Director Central Procurement. If necessary Getronics Audit is consulted. This would be the case, for example, if an alternative Code is being evaluated.
