A summary of our history

Groeneveld

1887
The origin of Getronics dates back to 1887 with the establishment of Groeneveld, Van der Pol & Co's Elektrotechnische Fabriek N.V. ("Groeneveld"), an installer of control and technical equipment for the utilities construction and ship-building industry.

Groenpol NV

1950
Groeneveld formed Technisch Verkoop Kantoor Groenpol ("Groenpol"), a separate sales department that distributed technical equipment for micro switches and steam turbines.

Geveke & Groenpol

1968
Groenpol NV, which was listed on the Amsterdam stock exchange in 1968, merged with Geveke NV to form Geveke & Groenpol N.V. The operational business units of each company continued to operate separately.

Steenkolen Handelsvereniging NV

1970
Geveke & Groenpol NV was acquired by Steenkolen Handelsvereniging NV (SHV) and, following that, was de-listed from the Amsterdam stock exchange. SHV divided Geveke & Groenpol NV's operations into a sales division ("Groenpol Industrial Sales") and an installation division. The distribution activities continued to operate under the internal name of Groep Technische Handel, of which Groenpol Industrial Sales became a part.

Geveke Electronics

1972
Groenpool Industrial Sales expanded further in the Netherlands, Belgium and France and changed its name to Geveke Electronics.

Management buy-out

1983
Geveke Electronics conducted a leveraged management buy-out, reducing SHV's shareholding to a minority position. All subsidiary companies were brought under one parent company, Geveke Electronics International NV.

Geveke Electronics NV

1985
On 23 May, fifteen years after it was de-listed from the Amsterdam stock exchange, the company was re-listed under a new name - Geveke Electronics NV.

Getronics NV

1988
The Company changed its name to Getronics NV. Since its re-listing on the Amsterdam stock exchange in 1985, Getronics has adopted an aggressive policy of expansion by means of internal growth, acquisitions and strategic investments.

Getronics NV

1999
On 4 May 1999, it was announced that Getronics would acquire Wang Global for 2 billion dollars, making Getronics one of the top five in the IT market at a single stroke.

Getronics NV

2005
On 14 March 2005, Getronics completed the acquisition of PinkRoccade, creating the biggest ICT service provider in the Netherlands.

Getronics , a KPN company

2007
On 23 October 2007, KPN completed the acquisition of ICT service provider Getronics. KPN is now the owner of the company following successful public offers for the ordinary shares and convertible bonds.
