Modern technologies enable us to communicate and exchange knowledge at any time and in almost any place. But that does not mean that everyone uses all its potential. We want to ensure that isolated groups can make social contacts too. With each other and with the world.

As the biggest ICT service provider in the Benelux, we can contribute our knowledge, experience and manpower to connect people. Through the Mooiste Contact Fonds Getronics employees are working on reestablishing the links to the outside world for people in danger of falling into social isolation.

KPN is conscious of the fact that contact with others fulfils an emotional need for all of us and that it must be easily accessible to everyone as well. This is the reason why the Finest Contact Foundation (Mooiste Contact Fonds) was set up. The goal of this fund is to help groups of people who are relatively susceptible to social isolation. In 2010 these are:

• Children that have no contact with their contemporaries for health reasons.
• Elderly people who have difficulty keeping up with the fast pace of media developments.

Since January 2008 the Finest Contact Foundation has been working together with partner organizations that have experience in combating social isolation. Not only does the fund give money to projects, but KPN and Getronics employees and ex-employees also make their time and expertise available. In 2009, more than 1600 KPN volunteers joined forces with the Finest Contact Foundation.
