In fact, First Quench serves a mammoth 150 million customers a year from its 1,700 stores, operating under familiar brand names such as Threshers, The Local, Wine Rack and Haddows. This major retailing operation employs around 12,000 people - all of whom rely on efficient IT systems.

Challenge

Following a number of historic strategic market acquisitions, mergers and disposals, First Quench needed to rationalise its many heritage IT systems as these had become both complex and costly to run. The rationalisation ? including the upgrading of key line-of-business applications ? needed to be completed quickly and cost-effectively. A prime requirement was that the new IT systems should be able to cope with future change.
